Petticoat Lane Market

Middlesex Street/ Wentworth Street, London E1

Mainly a clothing market, Petticoat Lane Market dates back to the 17th century. When the Huguenots came over from  France to London to sell petticoats and lace the road took the name of Petticoat. However, in the rather prudish Victorian era the name was changed so not to refer to ladies underwear! Today the market is still known as Petticoat Lane and sells mens, womens and childrens clothing from last seasons must haves to clubwear and designer over orders.
